Global Door II Disaster Response Exercise

Some of the damage to the buildings. Nearly every building, including the Prime Minister's Palace and the National Cathedral suffered significant damage.
2009

HISG completed a second international disaster response exercise in November, 2009. Participants from Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and South America, joined us in the exercise, called Global Door II. Much like Global Door I, the participants came from all walks of life and contributed their unique talents and perspectives to a realistic disaster scenario. The purpose of these exercises is to connect and prepare organizations that are skilled in disaster response so that we can cooperate internationally, as well as identify ways that we can improve. For example, HISG's Global Information Center built an online information stream that allowed users to spread information quickly across the entire disaster response network. This system was designed based on input from Global Door I, and proved to be a useful tool during the exercise. Thank you to everyone who made time to participate with HISG in Global Door II, and if your organization would like to be a part of the next exercise, please contact us.
