Humanitarian International Services Group is participating in a worldwide campaign to help people suffering from famine in the Horn of Africa. The campaign will raise money and awareness for short-term relief and long-term assistance for the people of Kenya, Ethiopia and Somalia.

These three Horn of Africa nations have been ravaged by a famine brought on by the worst drought in 60 years. Already 30,000 Somali children have died from malnutrition, and families have fled to Ethiopia and Kenya in search of food. In all, there are 13 million people in need of help.

HISG has already shipped more than 800,000 meals, and established a local volunteer network for distribution. These meals will serve as an immediate answer to the food shortage. HISG is also working with teams of physicians who will rotate into Kenya, treating diseases and teaching healthy nutrition. Finally, the HISG Kenya office that will assist with agriculture and irrigation projects that will give the region a more stable food supply in the future.
