HISG Delivers Aid to Refugees in Syria

Another row of worn-out tents in the refugee camp in Syria.
Syrian Arab Republic, Dec 08, 2009

HISG has shipped a container full of clothes to a refugee camp on the border between Syria and Iraq. The refugees are families who fled from the war in Iraq, and were told they could not enter Syria. Then they were not allowed to return to Iraq.So they remain stuck in the desert, living in worn out tents and unable to leave the camp. One of HISG's partners had this to say :

“The vision that met me was so sad. The tents are old and tattered.”

These men, women and children are all but forgotten, living in No Man's Land between two countries. The HISG clothing shipment is quite likely the first aid of any kind, other than United Nations shipments, to reach the camp. The refugees were very grateful for the clothing, smiling as they saw the bundles of winter clothing that they desperately needed.  They were also deeply touched to learn that other people cared about their situation.

This project was made possible by the diligent efforts of HISG’s shipping partners, and by a team on the ground in Syria that has gone to extraordinary lengths to reach out to the refugees in that country. The refugees are in a desperate situation, playing a cruel waiting game that they have no control over.  If you would like to be a part of helping these families that have been rejected and humiliated, please contact us or consider a donation to HISG.
