In April 2006, HISG escorted a group of friends and fellow Americans into China to assess the needs of the impoverished people of the rural countryside and to evaluate existing humanitarian aid projects. During its journey, the group met with NGO members in Beijing and other northern cities. After visiting a children’s shelter, the group was exceedingly encouraged by the healthy and happy condition of the children.
The week-long trip to China proved both educational and rewarding to all participants. The HISG team was not only pleased to see firsthand the fruits of existing projects, it was also challenged by the new opportunities for aid that lie ahead.
