HISG has established an office in the Darfur region of Sudan to serve the enormous needs of the people affected by the conflict there. The office is located in the city of Nyala, where HISG has initiated several different humanitarian projects.

The five-year civil war in Sudan has killed 400,000 people and forced millions of others into Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps. HISG is committed to helping the people of the Sudan with immediate relief, and also with long-term development projects that will help them rebuild their country. In the last year and a half, HISG staff members have spent many months in Darfur supporting a number of different community aid and development programs. Some of the programs include providing clean water to the IDP camps, child education projects, and AIDS awareness programs.

The Nyala office will oversee HISG’s ongoing humanitarian projects in Darfur, and will identify new ways to help the people of Sudan. The office will also develop ways to implement HISG’s model for Holistic, Integrated, Sustainable Transformation into community development programs. The contact information for the Nyala office is listed below. To read more about HISG’s 2008 Darfur Initiative, please click here.
