Grant Porter and his wife have lived in the Middle East since 1982. They have been involved in numerous ventures over that time ranging from emergency relief in Lebanon and Iraq, income generation programs among nomadic people, rebuilding programs for homeless war victims and long-term rural development. Until recently Grant was the Near East Regional Director for an International Charity and managed their office in Beirut. He held this position for 18 years. While working in this capacity he also served on the boards of a number of international and local “grassroot” N.G.O.s.
Grant is still actively involved in two Lebanese charities one of which is the Near East Initiatives, a resourcing non-profit group focusing youth and the under-privileged Grant is also currently pursuing part-time a PhD in Intercultural Studies with the University of Wales, U.K.
