Michael currently serves as the Executive Director for Humanitarian International Services Group (HISG). He comes to HISG with an extensive background in both the for-profit and nonprofit sectors of business. Licensed by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission to operate and manage commercial nuclear power plants, Michael forged out to form an independent consulting company in 1985. Since that time, he has provided support services to over 50% of the operating nuclear power plants in the United States. He specializes in large-scale culture transformation, strategy development, business planning, and organizational structure and process.
In the nonprofit sector, Michael has an equally extensive background of qualifications. He has functioned as the chief operating officer for three nonprofit startup ventures and provided consulting services to a host of additional nonprofit organizations in strategic development and organizational process. During his tenure in the nonprofit sector he supported multiple global initiatives.
Michael co-founded Humanitarian International Services Group with Kay Kizo Hiramine, Rob Mabary and Michael Mastrodonato in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Their intent was to bring proven business practices and practical experience to the humanitarian aid arena. Their first goal was to develop an innovative model that would change the future of humanitarian aid operations. To implement these changes HISG launched a fast track of operations, and by mid December 2001 Michael was in Afghanistan delivering winter clothing into an active war zone.
Michael lives in Colorado Springs, Colorado with his wife Chris and their five children.
